Math Team Places Second in First Meet of the Year

On October 7th the MacDuffie Math Team traveled to Agawam, MA to compete in the first meet of the Western Massachusetts Math League (WMML).

With a lot of especially high scores for the first meet of the year, MacDuffie earned 88 points to secure second place behind perennial rival Deerfield (98). Long Meadow (72) was in third place, and East Long Meadow (60) took fourth. The MacDuffie team earned perfect scores on both Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus rounds. Kai (Kyle) Zhang (2015) earned a perfect score for the day.

The MacDuffie WMML Math Team consists of sophomores Jing (Angela) Tang and Zixuan  (Camellia) Liu, juniors Cheolhee (Charley) Lee and Quang (Toby) Tran, and seniors Kai (Kyle) Zhang and Kunyun (Queenie) Wu.

These players were selected after grueling tryouts with 25 candidates.

This year’s captain is returning senior Queenie Wu.

The next meet is Wednesday November 5th, when the team will be traveling to Central High School.
