General Application Information

We require students to apply online as it simplifies submission and provides a tool for tracking the status of their application. This can be done through either The MacDuffie School Online Application or the SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO). A non-refundable fee of $75 must be submitted with the application.

Please note: applicants from China must use the SSAT Standard Application Online (SAO).

The application deadline for the 2020-2021 academic year is February 1st, 2020.  We also accept students for mid-year entry.

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis for any student who applies after March 10. We encourage late applicants to call us directly regarding the availability of space for the coming academic year.

Interview

The interview is a very important of the admissions process. Students and their families should plan a[proximately two hours for the campus tour and interview. In situations where visiting is not possible, Skype interviews may be conducted by the Admissions Office.

Required Application Checklist

A completed admissions file consists of the following parts:

a.)   Interview

b.)   Formal Online Application and Essays

c.)   Parents’ Statement

d.)   Official Academic Transcript from current school year and two prior school years (Translated if you are applying as an International Student)

e.)   English Teacher Recommendation

f.)    Math Teacher Recommendation

g.)   School Recommendation

h.)   Personal Recommendation

i.)    SSAT

j.)    TOEFL (for International Students)

Testing Requirements

All applicants must submit the appropriate standardized test scores.

Sixth through Tenth Grade Applicants should submit Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) scores.  Please include The MacDuffie School’s code (4762) when you register for the test.

Eleventh Grade, Twelfth Grade, and Post-Graduate Applicants should submit PSAT, SAT or ACT.

International Students

In addition to the testing mentioned above, International Students are required to submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as well as the standardized testing listed by grade above.  Please include The MacDuffie School’s code (8821) when you register for the test.

Academic Support
In addition to the testing mentioned above, those applicants seeking support services through our Academic Support Center must submit a WISC and/or other evaluated testing.
