Junior Varsity @ Suffield Academy
Suffield Academy came to MacDuffie at 3 PM on October 1st to play in a tight game with the Junior Varsity squad. MacDuffie scored first with a fantastic goal from Leo Zhang. While MacDuffie ended up falling 2-1 in the game, it was their most complete game of the season. The players are coming together as a team, and are having fun too. We will look to secure our first win of the season at home on Monday, October 10th at 4:30 PM when the Hebrew High School of New England comes to MacDuffie.
Varsity vs. Masters School
The MacDuffie Mustangs defeated Masters 5-1 on September 29th. Tamer Ackay had two goals, Richard Areche had two goals, and Vasilli Migashko had one goal. Richard Areche was named game MVP. During the match the boundaries of diversity were slowly lifted and the cohesiveness of the team began to shine. Numerous shots were taken in the team effort and everyone played well!
Varsity vs. Watkinson
The MacDuffie Mustangs defeated Watkinson 2-1 on October 1st. Richard Areche had two goals one in the last five minutes of the game to send the Mustangs to victory. The MVP was also Richard but the effort of all was exceptional even in the most strenuous of games.
@ Cheshire Academy
The Mustangs ran a challenging course at Cheshire Academy on September 27th. 8th grader Nicolette Peterson, out of nearly 200 runners, placed second in the girls’ varsity race with a time of 21:35. All runners on the MacDuffie team showed great endurance and skill as they ran the difficult course where no hill was too steep to stop them.
Great job team!
Varsity vs. WMA
What is normally a tough encounter between the two teams, was very much a one-sided contest with MacDuffie winning 8-0. Ania Ludkiewicz opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute, from Ala Legowski’s assisted pass. Roles were reversed 4 minutes later when Ania threaded the ball to Ala in the box, who calmly put the ball in the back of the net. Midway through the half Ala provided Ava Marion the opportunity to come in off the right wing and score from a tight angle. Ava made it two for her, four for the team, before half time on another pass from Ala. On her first game back from an extended injury Jessie Hurley converted from yet another assist from Ala. MacDuffie’s defense, led by Mimi Jung, and “stand-n” keeper, Maddie Levesque, were alert and equal to the test of any attack made by the visitors. The sixth goal did not come until midway through the second half when Talia Wiesel stepped up to stroke a penalty kick into the bottom left corner of the goal. Courtney Hurley, now playing in a more advanced position, joined her sister on the scorers list on an assist from sixth grader Kasia Ludkiewicz. Kasia then became scorer for the eighth and final goal of the game as she pounced on a loose ball in the box. Mustangs 5 wins from 5 games.
Varsity @ Watkinson
On their first away game of the season, Ania Ludkiewic settled any nerves and discomfort by scoring off a through ball by Ala Legowski in the twenty-first second. Ala became scorer on 10 minutes, with Ania returning the compliment with an assist. An own goal by a Watkinson player provided the Mustangs with their third goal, and Ania made it 4-0 before the break from a cross by Ava Marion on the right wing. In the second half, Talia Wiesel scored a direct free kick from about 40-yards from the goal – this is no misprint – Talia smashed a free-kick from near the halfway line that flew over the goalkeepers head and crept under the cross bar to make it 5-0. To complete the scoring, Emilee Auclair, playing in a more advanced position for the second half, grabbed a brace; the first assisted by Courtney Hurley, and the second was a solo effort.
Varsity @ Forman
Game against Forman cancelled due to bad weather.
Varsity vs. Miss Halls
The Mustangs beat Miss Halls 3-2. This marks the first time MacDuffie has bested the Hurricanes since moving to our Granby campus. Great job girls!
