Jocelyn St. Onge , MacDuffie’s MVP,  had 6 rebounds, Sarah Scott had 4 rebounds, and Florence Tshimanga had 3 rebounds.  The Girls Varsity team had a hard loss tonight against Hamden Hall.

MacDuffie 53 Forman 20

With a road victory over Forman, The Mustangs advance to a 5 game winning streak. Ryleigh Cauley, Sarah Scott, Kacey Deecher and Julia Cloutier logged significant minutes and played well defensively. Their ball movement and execution was impressive. Florence Tshimanga was The Mustangs leading scorer with 12 points, followed by Ece Eldek with 11 points and Aniis Anderson with 10. Florence also received a Sportsmanship Award. The opposing team agreed that Florence was the heart and soul of the game and represented The MacDuffie Mustangs best. MacDuffie travels to Christian Heritage Saturday afternoon for their next game.

MacDuffie 40 Westover 33

MacDuffie beat Westover at home Wednesday evening. Coming off two losses before the break, MacDuffie set the tone for the game early. The Mustangs went on a 14-6 run in the first quarter and managed to keep the lead for the rest of the game. Senior Ece Eldek was the Mustangs’ high scorer with 14 points, followed by Jocelyn St. Onge with 11. MacDuffie played great team defense to get their second win of the season, with a record of 2-2.

Hackley 37 MacDuffie 26

MacDuffie faced Hackley School Saturday afternoon. The team started off strong both offensively and defensively. The girls went on a 18-6 run, forcing Hackley to call a timeout. Everything was going well for the Mustangs, but the momentum quickly shifted as they resumed play after the timeout. Hackley went on a 6-0 run and managed to get the score within two points going into halftime (18-16 MacDuffie). Freshman Jocelyn St. Onge from Ware, MA, was the leading scorer for MacDuffie. She had 10 points and dished out 2 assists. Following her was Sophomore Florence Tshimanga with 8 points and Senior Ece Eldek with 7 points. With only scoring 8 points in the second half while going scoreless for the last 5 minutes of the game, MacDuffie fell to Hackley School 37-26.

Greenwich Academy 49 MacDuffie 29

The Mustangs traveled up to Greenwich Academy Friday night for a tournament and came up short. MacDuffie started off slow, but managed to keep the score within 2-4 points going into the half. MacDuffie struggled throughout the second half, and were unable to gain enough momentum to take the lead. Sophomore Florence Tshimanga fouled out early in the second half, while Senior guard, Ece Eldek played with 4 fouls. Eighth grader, Sarah Scott from Granby, MA, and Aniis Anderson from Springfield, MA, helped the Mustangs with their consistent intensity on defense. The team was missing Freshman Jocelyn St. Onge and Sophomore Maria Simonova due to prior school engagements. The Mustangs fell to Greenwich 49-29.

MacDuffie 53  Stoneleigh-Burnham 10

MacDuffie started off strong in their season opener against Stoneleigh-Burnham. Sophomore Florence Tshimanga, and Senior Ece Eldek, were the team’s leading scorers for the Mustangs. Florence had 21 points, and shot 10-13 (77%)  from the field. Ece scored 10 points and had 13 assists. Combined, the two scored more than half of the teams points in their 53-10 victory. Freshman Jocelyn St. Onge also contributed 9 points, 3 assists and 4 steals. The team shot 51% from the field and had a total of 19 assists for the game. Eighth grader, Ryleigh Cauley from Granby, MA, and Freshman Aniis Anderson, from Springfield, MA, logged significant minutes for the Mustangs. This is a very young team but it was a great team win for the Mustangs.
