MacDuffie Players present ‘The Pajama Game’

MacDuffie Theater will present the hilarious 1950’s musical comedy The Pajama Game.

This is a lively comic look at the Sleep Tite Pajama Company’s struggle with Local 343 of the Associated Garment Workers of North America over a 7 1/2 Cent raise.

Factory owner Myron Hasler, played by Junior Ian Sores of Longmeadow, and his Efficiency Expert Vernon Hines, played by Sophomore Ethan Shelburne of Northhampton, try to hold the line against the Union led by international student Bobby Gu. Hasler hires a new plant superintendent, Senior and MacDuffie stage veteran Darien Guy of Springfield. Complications occur when a romance develops between the new superintendent and Babe Williams, played by Junior Gina Napolitano, the head of the grievance committee. In addition Hines is in love with flirtatious secretary Gladys Hotchkiss, Junior Suzette Appiah of Springfield. His jealousy had comic and possibly lethal consequences. The superintendent’s secretary Mabel, Sophomore Courtney Hurley, keeps track of the goings on in the factory, as management and labor move toward a showdown.

A cast of thirty singers and dancers, and a six piece orchestra, will bring “The Pajama Game” to life at The MacDuffie School’s Little Theater in Granby, MA on Friday, February 27th and Saturday, February 28th at 8PM, and Sunday, March 1, at 3PM. Such memorable tunes as “Hey There You With the Stars in Your Eyes”, “Steam Heat”, and “Hernando’s Hideaway”, will delight our audience, in this fast and funny look at life in the American heartland over sixty years ago.
